Barcelona’s Argentine striker, Lionel Messi last night played his 100th match in the UEFA Champions League but his celebration was cut short following a 1-1 draw against AS Roma in Italy. Barcelona took the lead via an impressive Luis Suarez header in the 21st minute but were later stunned by Allexandro Florenzi’s perfect strike in the second half.
The AS Roma defender piloted the ball from his half of the field towards Barcelona’s defense and fired a powerful shot 60 yards from the goal post which caught Marc-Andre ter Stegen off guard. The goal was the major highlight of the night as it went on to overshadow Messi’s centurion.
Lionel Messi who was the former Champions league king with 77 goals now trail behind Real Madrid’s Ronaldo who has 80 goals.
