Nollywood actor cum politician, Desmond Elliot has spoken to NET exclusively on his activities and how he’s fared so far as politician as he approaches his first 100th day in office.

Desmond Elliot was elected to represent Surulere constituency at the Lagos State House of assembly in  April 2015. Speaking on his journey so far, Desmond told NET, ‘Firstly beware of sycophants, people that tell you you’ve done great, that’s one thing I’ve learnt over the years. Never feel you’ve done well because the truth is you haven’t unless the last Nigerian becomes self-sufficient. So for me, what I’ve been able to do is more on education and youth. I’ve been able to help a lot of them get their GCE forms, paid for their extra moral classes, made sure there’s some form of mentorship’.

Speaking further, he said, ‘Am trying to build and raise the Desmond Elliot kids so at the end of 4 years, when they are graduating and when I’m leaving office, I can point to them and say these are my kids, these are the bunch I’ve been able to help. I’m helping them from primary, secondary and tertiary. Beyond that, I’m starting a skills acquisition programme for the physically challenged, teaching them how to make beads, make-up, hair and stuffs like that’.
